I have thought about this like taking my casing I have now and adding substrate ontop. I would go into this fully aware that it will probably contam. but it would be worth a try...

no i mean like the same thing you do with a new jar of say WBS and crumble it to HPOO to colonize the case...Instead of using a jar of newly colonized substrate is it possible to use a spend colonized casing

A spent substrate, is like used toilet paper. Would you wipe your fanny with used toilet paper?
It's SPENT. Meaning USED UP.
Just like beer thats been drank = PISS.

LOL,..... When you discover the last 2 pieces of bread in a bag, are moldy. Would you slide those 2 old moldy pieces of bread. Into a new bag of bread?
What you suggest, is the same thing.
Using worn out, used up substrate & adding it to new substrate. And, expecting it to work well. Isn't going to happen.
You asked. I answered.

Wow, you can see microscopic mold & contaminate spores. With your naked eyes? That's incredible. Just because you cannot see any visible contamination. Doesn't mean there is none.
Forget that issue. Try to ponder. Trying to add old crap to new shit, doesn't work.
You just earned a listing in my IGNORE LIST.

Wow...such hostility...you know he was just trying to tell you no, it's not a good idea...it's kinda like the year old post you answered to a few minutes ago...it can, maybe, possibly work, but it's a lost cause. It may colonize the new substrate IN TIME and it may fruit, but the time spent trying to save wtf ever it is you're trying to save is wasted by the fact that your yield will more than likely be minimal becaused spent means spent...the myc is tired, it has lived it's life and ready to move on, but you wanna go put it on life-support hoping it will come out of it, be productive again...for fuck's sake man, pull the plug and make a new baby.
And a word of personal advice...don't piss off the old hands like agar, the advice they have to offer is invaluable.
Peace CS
