Hopefully a simple dunking question
    #6799734 - 04/17/07 01:33 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Ok, I do monotubs exclusively and I have been dunking for 2 hours after a first flush and 1 hour after second and third flushes. This last week I saw a post about dunking and I read that some people dunk for 3-6 hours and some even as long as 24 hours. So I thought I would try 3-6 hours this past week. When I drained my tubs that soaked 4+ hours, the substrate 'block' broke apart. They were way moist and mushy. I think that I keep my substrate and casing pretty optimal during fruiting runs. So is it possible that I only need such a short soak? If I soaked for 24 hours, my substrate would be a pile of goo lol. Should my substrate be that moist and mushy after a dunk? and I just need a better way of getting rid of my dunk water? I just pour out the excess water through my holes for my polyfil. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Hey, my dunked substrates are always moist and mushy  and I generally have no problems with that.
I used to remove the water through holes in the bottom that i open/close with silver tape.
