When to Harvest?

Okay, a few more weeks and my PF jars are going to be in the growing chamber, so I thought I'd ask this now. When the shroomz start to grow, when do I harvest them? I am growing Mazatapecs. Do I wait for them to get a certain size? I think I read something that said "just after the veil breaks". Is that right?

No offense meant...but this isn't rocket science. You've seen pictures of mature shrooms and you can see all different stages of maturation in the pictures forum and gallery. As soon as the veil tears away it's "broke"...not rocket science.

Um, actually, no I haven't. I've only read the PF Tek guide before I asked the question. Then I got a reply that had a link for pictures of the veil breaking on the shroomz. Now I know why. I didn't know the answer to a quick question, so I asked it, and got a quick reply. If it was rocket science, I would have spent more time searching and reading through some guides and FAQ's. I just wanted a quick response. Sorry for sounding defensive, but I guess I just am.

There is nothing wrong with asking guestions.(the only stupid question is the one not asked) so keep asking. After all thats why we're here. You gotta love that pictorial. I wish i had seen that when i first started. Good Job!! Oh and keep reading

The mushroom willo come out of the substrate like a...a "stick". Then at the top the cap will start rising and the whole thing will start to resemble an umbrella opening up. But as the cap is coming up, there's this thin layer of "goo" sticking to it and the stem. Once full maturity is reached, the cap opens and this goo rips. The goo is the veil.

No the above post isn't 100% accurate but I'm tryin to explain this easily so please don't flame...
