Hi guys -
I am sick and tired of buring out my cuisinart's motore from grinding so much brown rice. I remember seeing on "Good Eats" Alton Brown was using some sort of crazy contraption that ground his grains into very fine powder and not coarse chunks of rice and shake like mine....anyone know what this contraption was or anything else that would work.

I used a coffee grinder, and a food processor when I started out. If you find yourself grinding pounds of rice up all day, maybe try something else I.E. Rye, Corn, Straw, POOP!. With those there is alot less busy work, and more mushrooms in the end.
But you can't beat the speed and simplicity of BRF and Verm cakes, especially when just learning.

Ok sorry but I dont think you guys understand...I make and ship BRF jars out to a lot of customers so I cant just STOP making BRF jars. I need to find a more efficient way to grind the long grain BR.

 ^What I use^
Commercial, grocery store or restaurant grade coffee grinder. Can be had on eBay from $100 & up. Sometimes found locally at used restaurant supply places. (they are heavy & shipping is a BITCH)
They last for decades & unless you feed them GRAVEL. Will not f**k up.
You can grind a 20 lb bag of brown rice. In about 10 minutes. Plus, select the grind size

LOL, you asked. What more can I say.
If you think the picture is BS. Note the rug under the coffee grinder.

Note the rug under the counter top roaster. Used in pasteurizing.
Note the rug under the WBS
Note the rug under the PC
Note the rug under the PC'ed spawn jars.
That rug is on my office floor, out in my shop.

I use a burr coffee grinder for making BRF...
I burned out 3 of these my first couple years in mycology.
Lucky for me Bartell Drug Store would replace them...no problem!~
at $23.99 it was a good deal.
and the last one hasn't broken down and it's probably 4 or 5 years old now.
this is the one I use....

I'd suggest this one to the Shroomery members.
101,
I'd suggest getting the one agar showed you since you are going to probably make a hell of alot more BRF than a regular Shroomery member.
