Dunking after spawning? v. cobweb
    #6794749 - 04/16/07 12:10 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

So I tried spawninng crushed up BRF cakes to coir. I seem to have a little cobweb on my chunks of coir and BRF.

Should I dunk my coir/BRF in an H202 solution before I case it if it may have some cobweb on it?
What ratio H2O2 (3%) to water would be good for this? How long should I dunk it?

Spray, don't dunk 3% peroxide on the cobweb. Make sure it's cobweb, don't nuke your mushroom mycelium.

I'm not entirely sure. Looking at it with a magnifying glass, this fuzz looks a little different than if I look at mycelium under the glass, but the difference seems very subtle.
What is a good ratio of 3% H202:water for misting?
the spawning is just about done now. If by any chance the cobweb survives the H2O2 misting, would it likely contaminate the entire casing as well, if some of the cased substrate had surviving mold?

I told you above, but probably not clear enough, to use 3% peroxide to spray the cobweb.

Ah, so I shouldn't dilute the 3% perozide with any more water? (I thought some people suggested doing that)

To me, cobweb and mycelium look similar from a distance, but it's not hard to tell up close. Here's a good pic of cobweb

Notice how the hyphae go off in random directions? Slightly off white, and usually looks more transparent than mycelium.
