The Stongest Anti-Nauseant known to man
    #679414 - 06/14/02 08:50 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

Like the subject suggests, do any of you know of the strongest anti-nauseant known to man? You see, a friend of mine has the weakest stomach I've ever seen. He's puked from cough syrup, excracted Dex, sucrets, morning glory, HBWR, alcohol, and pretty much every other substance I've seen him do. Also, which is kinda fucked up, he can't swallow pills of any kind! This guy had a childhood traumatic experience with a vitamin which nearly killed him, and since then he cannot consciously swallow any pill shaped object, which is pretty fucked up.
So, whenever I give him a substance which will make him nausated, I give him the usual, gravol or peptol, but none seem to work, plus he has to chew the fucking gravol which makes the poor bastard feel even more sick.

Anyways, enough of the backstory, my question is, is there any anti-nauseants out there more powerful than drammamine or peptol? I want him to try shrooms soon, but I don't want to ruin his first experience with puking (like almost every other drug I've introduced him to).

Thanks

make the shrooms into a shake or something. he definitely has a mental problem with the concept of "eating medicine" so make shrooms into something thats not gonna trigger that.

try dramamine II, or less drowsy, it's meclizine HCl. lasts about twice as long as gravol, works about 2 times better, and has much fewer side effects.
if that doesn't work then you might want to just try ginger pills for the shroom comeup, as mushrooms nausea is usually weak and fleeting.
if neither of those work, you could get your friend a script for compazine, but i highly disrecommend that.

by the way, all those substances are known to cause much more nausea than mushrooms, so it might be the substances, not the guy.

I swear by Ginger pills. I got into a bad routine of edgy beginnings and finally tried Ginger. It works the best of all with no side effects.

I get the ones at Wal-Mart, ground up and they are in 00 caps, thats how they come. If you want to get picky, look for a standardized version since its produced more controlled and supposed to be even in all doses. I am thinking if looking for such a product since I feel the potency varies sometimes.

Some health food stores sell a chewable version called Ginger Snaps. Hope that helped. Ginger is the way to go, been using it for over a year now.

By "edgy" are you talking about nausea or anxiety?

Both and to the extreme that it sometimes would trigger a very bad trip. I gave them up for a short time, then went back into it to figure it out. Took me several months of many variations, tips, etc. till I found Ginger to be my overall cure.

Also found that shroom capsules taken apart, like 20 mins apiece also helped greatly. Now its 1 shroom cap, wait 10 mins then take a Ginger. After 20 mins, take a shroom cap, then wait another 10 and take a Ginger. 20 mins later the third shroom cap equalling 1.5 gms and no more Gingers as all is well at this point

Yeah, weed truly is a good anti-nauseant, but sometimes not enough.
Where can I get a hold of some Drammamine II? Is it OTC?
I'll definitely have to look for those chewable ginger pills for my bud. Also, what about that funny pickled ginger you get with sushi, would that act as a good substitute?
In reply to:

Yeah, that might be true, altough this guy seriously has the worst immune system, and worst stomach I've ever seen. Plus, he weighs about 100 lbs, he's skinny as a rake, so pretty much everything makes him sick!

hey, i dont have much xperience with shrooms, but im a private pilot and you might consider some of the anti-airsickness pills. they work really good on things like drinking alcohol and stuff. you can get them from sporty's pilot catalog or sporty's website.

I will have to try your ginger method. In my 20s I was an avid psychedelic spelunker. Now, in my 40s, I am quite fearful of tripping. That spaced out feeling and anxiety make me run for cover. I now have access to an endless supply and just look at them. However, I really enjoy playing my synth while tripping after the peak. If ginger could smooth out the come-up, that would be great.

I'm really keen to try ginger capsules. Last night I got extreme nausea and it just got worse until I spewed, but after that I was fine. However, I want to try one more time without the capsules. Is it possible that if the shrooms are not dryed well enough they will cause you to vomit?

I have a feeling your friend is suffering from more of a psychosematic problem than a physiological one. That being the case I would try taking a track to a solution.

Let your friend know that some day, some evening when he's not expecting it you'll take care of dosing him with a couple of grams of some fine shrooms. (just make sure that he has no plans for that evening or anything important to do the next day)

You'll neeed to be very clever and sneaky so that he has NO CLUE that it's being done! This is a psychological thing! If he even suspects it you'll blow it, and he'll blow chunks!

Grind a couple of grams in a coffee grider to a fine powder and mix it into a light meal (his portion only) (a tuna salad sandwhich would be perfect) then don't let him see you eat your dose!

Good luck Shroomsbury!

ginger spice can be stirred into hot water for a spicy tea (add honey or sugar?)
ginger root can be purchased "candied" or "crystallized" (& is yummy to nibble on...)
fresh or pickled ginger root can taste pretty "hot" (on the level of cinnamon or clovebuds)
other calming stomachic herbs... chamomile, grandma's tummymint tea (celestial seasonings), fenugreek, cardamom... consult an herbal, googlesearch "herbs for nausea" of something like that...
(also some people have problems with the chitin that is the structural polysaccharide found in mushroom flesh and in arthropod exoskeletons... doing a tea, and sipping slowly, may eliminate much of the nausea (admittedly, at the expense of discarding the psychoactive chems that are not water-soluble...)

Thanks Tripmeist, that's some good advice. By the way, I found your other threads in trip tips to be very helpful! Anyways, you might be onto something there with the whole psychosomatic whatnot. If he doesn't know, maybe he won't become sick. Thanks for the idea.

FYI, dramamine is not strictly an antinauseant. Its a anti-motion sickness med. This prevents nausea induced from inner ear disturbances that happen in motion. There are other (perscription) drugs that target nausea response itself. So it may not do much, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
