San Pedro/Peruvian Torch Germination
    #6793860 - 04/16/07 09:53 AM (14 years, 9 months ago)

I've got some San Pedro and Peruvian Torch that I've got germinating at the moment, its been about exactly a week since I planted the seeds, and they've been in a seed tray with the clear plastic cover over top to keep the humidity up. They've also been approximately 6" below four 2ft fluorescent T5 lights(6500k, 96watts altogether) on a timing schedule of 16hrs on/8hrs off. I also have a heat mat underneath the tray set at 85f.

I'm not expecting to see anything pop up yet at this point, but I'm wondering if having the light on them is beneficial or harmful at this point. I've read mixed opinions of whether or not to use light during the germination phase.

I'm going to be leaving on vacation at the end of the week and will be gone for 2 1/2 weeks, so I want to know how best to have my lights and everything else set up on timers while I'm gone.

Could someone help me out and tell me what has worked well for you?

Thanks.
(pics upon request if needed)

keep the light on or they will stretch up for light.
I have some Bridgesii seedlings that got light when they were tiny and they got fat
I have seen other pics on this forum where the seedlings didnt recieve enough light and they were all stretched out.
