The thought of moving away and having a simpler life goes through my head daily
    #6783770 - 04/13/07 06:01 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

seriously. Just move somewhere where I'm close to nature and away from all the strings attached to living in a culture like America.
I feel like I would be much happier with life.
I wish I had a sum of money that I could use just to support my self with the basics, and thats it.
I guess not really realistic

So are you saying that people who use the internet are destined to be unhappy? Poor logic.

no, i'm saying if he wants a simpler life w/ only the basics, he shouldn't use the internet. that also improves my life too. it's a win/win situation.

So you want convenience without the drawbacks it brings...

When you move, make sure you don't move to far away from a wireless connection and grocery store.

exactly.

I went to an organic farm today (although not directly affiliated with wwoofusa) and loved what I saw. Only downside is I can't live on the property so I'd have to commute daily which is kind of a deterrent...that and they use a lot of machinery cause only a handful of people work on the farm

Im going to college to study agriscience...and eventually i want to join a commune...i'm so sick of the people in my community. I stayed with a family that was involved in WWOOF for a while, and it was simply amazing. I felt such a strong sense of belonging, and though i was too young to do most of the work...it just looked so invigorating and appealing. Plus I love Michigan, there's just so much beautiful scenery here...so working outside is pretty dope!

How hard of work is it?

Would it be much harder than, say, working construction?

Depending on what type of construction work you're referring to...it is similar. You work outside most of the time, sunrise to sunset...basically anything that needs to get gone around the farm (planting, turning soil, feeding animals, working machinery, studying crops, etc).

i have no idea, never gone beyond the doing research stage. i figure in terms of physical work, you could probably expect a lot, outside in the sun, sleeping in a tent, etc. but if the ideological & educational benefits you receive mean more to you than the fact that you are working your bum off and not getting paid squat, i could see it definitely being worth it
