Two months out of the jar is a long time. I would guess that there is heavy overlay going on, which means the cakes are no longer absorbing moisture. If they were mine I would try casing them. this would give the mycelium a chance to suck up some moisture and reestablish itself. Its worth a shot, especially since nothing has grown thus far.

no he means casing as in using one of the casing teks that describe putting a layer of soil/vermiculite, then the crumbled cakes, then another layer of soil or vermiculite. there are numeroius casing mixtures. read up in the grow/find section of the site.
