you may be interested in some of Mantak Chia's books - he is a Taoist master and talks quite a bit about circulating energy.

I've heard some good shit from it. There's a guy in town that teaches/administers Reiki. I wanna try it.

I'd like to try it too. Do they actually touch you? I heard that most of the work was done above the body.

A teacher is good just for some info and to "attune" you... I've always found it more in hand to do it on my own in my own terms... since I realized there's Reiki "dogma" too

You can touch too.
But you can keep your hands somewhere like 30 cm above.
The energy is really "felt"... though I can't really tell how it works.

Yup
Well I guess you could start off by meditation, on the purpose to quiet your mind and see yourself more clearly and buy a reiki book.
I don't really feel like a teacher would do, reason why I gave up that method.

well what makes talk about that not as serious shamans cure cancer in people using similar methods to reiki and use substances to increase their ability to heal thru energy by synchronizing energy flow between them and the one being healed

Well most of it yes...
Though I suspect that all spiritual practices that are being transmitted have some dosage of dogma.
I realized that taking everything with a grain of salt and letting myself to be the judge I practice reiki works much better then I've bee taught.

Something like that.
Personally, when I'm doing reiki on myself I feel it wave-like.
Meanwhile, when I'm doing reiki on friends of mine when say different things.
Some of them say that they feel warm, others a things that resembles with what you described, so there is no actual rule about one perceives it.
