Extreme bruising - still safe?
    #678561 - 06/14/02 01:07 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I birthed a 1/2 pint cake that was stalled (a very long time) and cut away a 25% uncolnized chunk with a red hot butter knife...

I put it in a sterile little butter container with sterile perlite to let it recover...just as a sort of non serious side thing...fast forward a few weeks...I check on it (it had an airpump to sustain it):

The little bastard survived slightly banged up, but fluffy nonetheless, no contam...

It got bruised when I transfered it to my real terarrium, (I realized it was upside down in the container when I picked it up...the pins were growing DOWN hah)

The handling from the transfer took its toll, and it has big blue bruises. (Had plastic bags over my hands)

Just curious if its safe? I don't see any contam, just dark blue patches. Does that make the cake any MORE vulnerable to contams that I should be concerened about?

The pins are really thriving now...which is surprising, cause I'm a newbie, and its Puerto Strain....but hey I love a challenge :P (About 9 little 1inch tall babies)

If its safe...T minus 5-7 days till I go camping

(I'm sure it is, but I just want confirmation and peace of mind from someone more knowledgeable )

Nate
