Homemade Bag-tek attempt

Hey all,
I recently had to re-register for the forums as I've forgotten both the username I had and the email address it was reg'ed to.. but no matter, as I only had one post anyway..
Anywho, wish I had pictures to show y'all.. I'm planning on growing EQ's from a Sporeworks syringe, using their Autoclavable bag tek. I purchased 10 bags from them with the filter patch and the self-healing injector site, as well as an EQ syringe. I've filled the bags with 500 grams of Rye Grass Seed, added 500 ml of sterilized spring water (boiled for 20 minutes), clipped them at the top after folding, let them sit overnight. Pressure cooked the bags 'til they were good an' sterile and sealed with my shiny new impulse sealer. Then I injected about 3cc's of spore solution into each bag (I'm doing two seperate bags) and I'm keeping them both in a closed cardboard box under the bed until they're colonized.
It's been two days so far. I hope this works, as it'd be a much cheaper and easier (well, maybe not easier) spinoff on the Sporeworks Myco-Bag, which is a great tool for newbies and old hands alike. My supply list looks like this:
10 autoclavable bags (from sporeworks) - $8 5 lbs bag of rye grass seed (from a gardening store) $5 8-inch impulse sealer (hardware store) $50 (one-time purchase) EQ spore syringe (from sporeworks) - $15
I already happen to own a pressure cooker. -------------------
Some things I was wondering.. instead of injecting the bags with a syringe, would it work if I simply touched a spore print to the substrate before sealing? I mean obviously it'd have to be quick and under sterile conditions, but that should work, right? And also, I was wondering if anyone else has tried this and had any luck?
Hope to hear from y'all soon, any feedback would be appriciated.

I hate to see all that work and money go down the drain cause you used rye seed instead of rye grain...
Also, I wouldn't just touch the substrate with the print. I would make a few syringes with the print and then use those.

Okay, I figured the syrignes would be a better idea, thanks for cofirming.
As for grain vs/seed, I normally would've gone with grain, actually what I usually use is wheat flour, but if you'll follow this link Sporeworks Autoclave Bag Tek you'll see that they suggest Rye Grass Seed, and not grain. It is strange but I have multiple bags of alternative substrate materials, and if this doesn't work I'll just go back to wheat flour or whatever else.
And heck, if it does work, that's cool too.

The sporeworks bags are a mixture of a few grains and other things ....
if you use them , they are fool proof..... just a sterile syringe will do the trick.
good luck!

I don't think I would sell the bags, that'd be a bit underhanded considering I'd be buying the bags themselves from Sporeworks, and using the tek that they published on their site. Not to mention they'd be my only competitor aside from maybe Bluethumbs. I agree with what seems to be the general feeling on this site, that shrooms aren't meant to be sold, and it should be a hobby, not a for-profit joint.
On the other hand, if you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by- I'd be more than happy to share the end result!
Goodnight and good vibes to y'all. -Tre

The grass seed bag tek was really intended for sclerotia forming mushrooms like mexicana or tampanensis. I don't know what the invitro results will be like with cubensis. A mycobag is more like a souped up PF tek cake in a bag. You might look into formulas of that nature for invitro fruiting.

Welp, I've already started two bags, so we'll see how that goes.. if it works, then cool. If not, I've got eight more bags to experiment with. Worst case scenario, the grass seed should do well to hide the bodies I've got in the backyard.
Anyone who's interested, I'll be posting soon on the really simple box I constructed for use with myco-bags that maximizes security and minimizes work.

'Mycobags', also known as Space bags in the Orient, have been used by mushroom cultivators for decades!
I highly suggest them instead of pf jars, for those who want to get serious
Also, rye grain is preferred for regular cubensis, and many edibles.

i agree my impulse sealer was the best purchase for shroomin ive made. i haven't used the bags to make spawn, but for colonizing large amounts of bulk material, you just cant beat it. when things slow down, you can get physicle with it to speed things up, with out the worry of contams.......... lol this post has shown me ive been doing it wrong tho???? i fill and seal, then pc. cut open to innoculate, and reseal......... seems like the clothespin would pop off when the bag expands. imho
