I was gonna go to farm and ask for shit, but what do I say? Should I say I need it for a garden, think the farmer will ask me to pay for shit? Is the shit already collected or do I have to go hunt in the field and pick up the patties and put em in a bag?

Looks like everybody is in horse poo mode nowadays...
Say its for your garden...It may be piled up but prolly not. You may have to go and get it from the field...no biggie...take trashbags with you....You prolly wont be charged for it.

Your looking for dung to add to your garden compost -- right...>wink<
Dairy's ofter sell cow manure compost. A Raccoon found some fit for "farming" for $18 a cubic yard.
Horse stables willusdualy just give you some, if your not looking for a truckload & will shovel it up - yourself.
Just take a few trash bags or sterlite tubs, go scouting -- find dung -- be pleasant -- often they will give you that a small amount.
Some shit is other peaples tresure, so whats a few bucks, considering the end result?

They are not going to look at you strange, most places that have it, sell it. Its very common for gardeners to use.
Go for horse dung, not cow. Places with horses have stables. These stables get cleaned and the straw and stuff they clean is what you want. Its usually already mixed and composted.
If you want to make your own proper compost, its a lot of work and you have to do a huge pile to do it right. Easier just to buy it off a vendor.

Go for horse dung that is dried not composted, it will rock unlike anything you have ever seen. I simmer it in a pot for an hour bath, I havent ever bought a themometer, I just simmer it and let it cool and wring the piss out of it. That is the biggest key to dung is moisture. If you dont wring enough water out of it it wont colonize and will eventually get a bacterial infection that will kill it. Time wize nothing will colonize as fast if you keep your temps right and use enough spawn. It will freak you completely out how fast puerto ricans blow through it.

Just be nice, you could even pay them per hour to search their fields if you wouldn't mind to, tell them it is for your garden, and they will surely let you into their property.
Just don't mess around with anything, don't screw anything up, don't litter it, don't smoke cigarettes, and don't do anything that might suggest your doing something "weird." Once you are in there, do your thing, and get out, but always remember to thank them on your way out. This should work.

Cow/Horse patties are neat..........
Cow/Horse manure from the stalls will have alot of URINE in it.... which you will have to leach out eventualy.......

yes , but i don't think he's planning on composting it ...
if your just using straight shit from a horse/cow stall it has ALOT of urine in it.... which isn't too good for growing fungus off of.

Where i live there are alot off cattle ranches and most have signs saying free manure. I don't think you'll even be asked what it's for or will have to pay.
