Is it cool to put my jars in like a spagettii strainer and put the jars in the strainer, put them in a pot, and let the water boil, or should i put my jars directly into the water?

Why the hell would you do that. anyways when you boil jars, they arent completely submerged, maybe an inch to 1.5'' of water. and if the tops are tin foil they will probably come loose and brf and verm will go everywhere. do it by the book, then experiment. these methods have been developed over a long time and are very effective. its very rare that someone strolls along and makes a new revelation. it does happen though, but its usually by seasoned pros.

Just wondering i would assume not to submerge them into the water and the strainer fits right on top of the pot. So basically there about like a 1/4in away from the water. Thats all i wanted to know. I mean i did it by the book. And was just wondering if this is a more efficent way to do it. Well thanks for your what you consider "helpful" feedback =P

it being directly touching the water would allow them to heat up better.the tinfoil that touches the water gets discolored, but its no problem.

Hi Mr. Puke....... great question!

I have a pot with a 'spagetti strainer' built in as a removable lining if you will.

I have found that when steaming, this is a great thing.

Also , it doesn't leave rings on the bottom of your pot!

Another thing to remember...........

when steaming your jars....... the water level has to be halfway up the jar......even w/ your strainer attachment.
