did you put them in front of a fan first? you need to fan them for a day or so and then put them in with the damp rid or dry rite. i cut mine in half longways and that helps some too. cutting them also lets you see how potent they are(how blue they turn inside). i don't know about the safety of that fuzzy stuff....doesn't sound too great to me, but i'm certainly no doctor. if you're gonna have plenty to spare, i'd trash them. you don't want to pull the old sick and tripping combo.
