Vendor Warning
    #676057 - 06/13/02 04:57 AM (21 years, 9 months ago)

For all you other vendors using paypal to accept credit card payments, watch out! They just froze my account due to the nature of the products I sell. They said it violates their terms of service by selling these products. The good thing (not really), is that they will only hold the balance of my funds for 180 days before I can get it back from them. So just a little heads up to others using this, you may want to switch to someone else before this happens to more. I know this is causing a huge inconvenience for me.

I just went up and emptied my account. I'll be quick to do that from now on.

Do you know of any good alternatives to Paypal and if so could you list them?

Yeh, I didn't have that much in there, luckily I transferred most of it last week. But it's still a hassle. I had a nice chat with a paypal rep this morning, and found out there will be absolutely no appealling my account status. How white of them. Now I'm trying to find some sort of alternative online shopping cart system. Any suggestions anyone?

Paypal is definately becoming a big problem with so many people, I really hope they start to act better.

I mean you are not doing anything illegal, yet they close your account and hold your money because they don't like your business?

Scary stuff.

From our stand point (that of Myco Supply's)

Don't use paypal. They're really becoming a loose operation. Every week or so there are reports of security holes in their processing, and things like "freezing" peoples accounts?? Thats uncalled for..

If you have $1,000 in your account and they freeze only 100 people (out of the millions of users that they have) at an intrest rate of your current money market. Paypal is making a nice chunk of change from YOUR money.

I would fight it.

Myco Supply doesn't get many orders via paypal. And when we do, the funds are immedately with drawn. Why should paypal collect interest off of your money?

Wow, that sucks!

I've always avoided PayPal, too many horror stories.

alternative to PAY PAL without a merchant account...

www.2checkout.com

very good, and only a one time startup cost of 49.00 and you can accept credit cards , bill people, provide reccuring billings, etc......

I use it myself and they pay very quickly direct to account or send a check...
Daily stats in yer email etc

Sorry to hear that NT!!! I have been struggling for 2 weeks trying to get www.2checkout.com's default cart system to work on my new www.hydra-pod.com site...but no luck! I'm not much of a programmer, but I recently purchased a kick-ass 3rd party cart system that requires some dynamic php programming but is easily the finest and most versatile software that I have found so far. Only, it costs about $175 off the top (on top of the the initial $49 2checkout fee).

Here's a link to it:

http://www.x-cart.com/

I don't recommend diving into all this yourself though... like I said, I am 2 weeks deep and still no real progress!!! Just learning. I might end up paying activeX for seamless integration into my new site because it's too far beyond my understanding to do what I would like to do with it.

If someone would get back to me by Monday (before I get my quote from activeX) then I would be interested in trading a pod for anyone who is familiar enough with PHP to do this for me instead.

Good Luck NT and I'll let you know how it turns out for me.

Myco Supply is in the same boat...

We're in need of a good shopping cart progam. We've looked into x-cart. Its VERY nice, but somewhat out of league for our designer? If anyone is a PHP guru looking for some work, PM me

Heya Lana, I'll let you know if I hear from anyone too. Also, I can let you know what activeX's quote ends up being for their design integration services.

So, may I ask why Mycotek is having to post under this "Absu" handle"?

No worries Leaf.... I just lost my last mycotek account here after requesting to have all my posts deleted. Apparently it is no longer usable so I have moved onto yet another username!

I wish I could just get the plain ol' "Mycotek" username again.
