Will this gear me sufficient enough for a nice grow?
    #6776361 - 04/11/07 06:22 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

So, after discovering, that my current setup ... well, sucks, I've spent most of the evening on the look-out for a new setup.

First of, I don't live in the US, but in Scandinavia, so Walmart, Target - you name it - won't be a possibility for me

The following items are items I've seen in guides etc., but I'm still uncertain on, whether there're better models available, or whether these will do just fine. Feel free to recommend me the brands you use, and perhaps add a comment on why.

Here are the items:

Humidifier Cool Mist ( Vicks 400) - 1.5 Gallon

Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier V5100N

Fluorescent blacklight tube holder, 450mm, Blue

I'm thinking of buying both the 2 Tier and 3 Tier Gardman Mini Greenhouses

Greenhouses - the two from the top

Thanks for taking the time!

Looking good so far, `cept I don't think you really need the fluorescent blacklight... It may look cooler, but there's so many things to buy the blacklight and the pump (prev post) don't have to be one of them. Research the posts on martha setups, and derive what you need from that info. Good luck!

Don't use a blacklight. You want bright fluorescent light in the high frequency range. Look for 'natural daylight' tubes or whatever they call them in your country. They should have a color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin to 7,000 Kelvin for best results.

I use coolmists and have never used an ultrasonic. They're overkill in my opinion, since a coolmist will move air and humidify a small greenhouse very well.

Be glad you don't have wal mart. They destroy jobs and wages, as well as small business wherever they go. I've boycotted them for ten years. I won't step foot in one of their stores. In fact, we won't even allow them to build one in my city.

Same here, and I must say beginning with this hobby was a big temptation. I saw so much posts claiming the low prices of the stuff you need to grow shrooms. Well maybe I didn't save money, but at least I ain't destroying America!

The only thing I've bought from Wal-Mart in the last....at least 4 years was with a gift card. I regretted even doing that, but I figured Wal-Mart had already scammed one of my poor relatives into spending their money there, so I might as well take advantage of the gift card. At least it was only $10.

Either of those greenhouse and a Vick's v-400 cool mist will have you up and running,as RR said you don't really need the ultrasonic

Thanks for all the nice replies - I don't feel that much down about my current setup anymore. Mushrooms are starting to appear, but I can see the amazing advantages of having a mini-greenhouse.

I've also gotten

- pH-meter for soil
- micro pore tape
- some tubberware boxes, in black.

I believe I'm all set!

Thanks!
