Sealing spawn bags prior to PC

I just got some spawn bags from mycosupply
http://www.mycosupply.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=SBFP01
Now can I impulse seal them prior to PCing?
One person said no, they have to say you can do that on the site.
Another person said yes I can but I need to get as much air out before PCing. I started to think use a food saver to vacuum / seal them and then impulse after PCing
What should I do?
Last person said yes I can do it but they recommend just using micro-pore tape to temporally seal the bags then after they have been PCed impulse seal them. The micro-pore tape will apparently allow you to temporally remain sterile between the time you remove the bags to the time you impulse them.

I would say to impulse seal them before pcing. Any other way is chancing contams. You wouldn't change lids on your jars after pcing would you?

I never seal spawn bags prior to PC'ing. Read the other active post in this forum on bags or search my name and 'tyvek sleeves' to see how I do it. Sealing prior to PC'ing can lead to exploding bags, and vacuum sealing is bad because mycelium needs air to grow.
Personally, I'd suggest using jars until/unless you have a laminar flow hood. RR

I left one thing out with the vacuum part
They said use a food saver to vacuum air out then seal, pressure cook, after cooled hang bags for 24 hrs to alow them to inflate.
I would have thought the micopore tape idea be a good option for me, any other suggestions?

I don't seal bags pre-PC either. I just fold the flap over double. Use 2 rubber bands to hold the flap in place. PC, cool & open in the "hood". G2G & impulse seal.

Listen to RR.

RR I read your tyvek sleeves. Now after you PC do you pull out the tyvek sleeve and inpulse seal since the bag will seal to itself?
I am rather confused.....

No, I leave the sleeve in place until I inoculate, then seal the bag with a steel wire twist tie. I don't own an impulse sealer. I don't trust them. Besides, at full colonization, I can open the bag up to apply a casing layer, then simply seal it back up and twist tie shut again. If you impulse seal, the bag gets shorter every time, when what you need is more space for fruiting, not less. RR
