What to do with my jars?

Hi there!
After 4 weeks from inoculation, 3 of my B+ jars are almost fully colonized and I was wondering what was the best thing to do with the birthed cakes. I don't own a PC, that's why I am using the PF TEK, but I'd probably go to grain as the whole casing idea seem to be pretty productive.
I've heard B+ cakes resulted into one huge fruit instead of a whole flush. And I was wondering if it would be more profitable to case the cakes. I have read a few teks about casing PF cakes, and I wanted your opinion. Should I case them or should I keep following the PF TEK?
Tell me what you think!

Aren't jar pictures a bit boring? The myc seems healthy as far as I can tell. But it's not really the question...

Dude make casings. Slice them up with a sterilized (alcohol gloves help) knife, and sandwich them between a nice 50/50 verm moss casing. (there is a tek in the guide section) put them in a clean rubbermaid bin with a clear top. That works pretty good. I could never get a real nice flush with just cakes.
But good luck either way.

I have this potting soil, wich I might try to use. I was thinking to use 70/30 of this mix/verm. The soil contains:
Sphagnum peat moss Perlite Vermiculite Composted manure Wetting agent Starter nutrients Calcium enriched
Sound good to any of you?

With that you might as well crumble the cakes up and mix them in and make a bulk substrate. Let that colonize and case that with the 50/50 mix after it colonizes. The manure will act as food for it so it will overlay and not really case the stuff, but it will probably make a perfect bulk substrate. But it sounds like a nice mix.

I'll just make sure I get everything right... What you're saying is that I should pasteurize the potting mix described before, mix it with my crumbled cakes, incubate the mix in a tray and case with 50/50 moss/verm when fully colonized?
Can I pasteurize the mix using a microwave? If the manure ratio of the mix isn't high, will it still colonize nicely? How long does it take until the bulk substrate is colonized (if I used a 1/5 ratio)?
Thanks for your help buddy

If that shit is being sold as potting soil then the percentage of manure in it is probably very small and would do little in terms of a bulk substrate.
The manure used is probably crap anyway. Occasionally you'll see a post about someone wanting to try dehydrated manure they found at walmart that is like $7 for 25 lbs. The replies are usually horror stories of previous victims.
If it already has verm and perlite in it you probably don't need to mix anymore with it unless it is really compact and needs some loosening up but I doubt it is with those ingredients. If you try to spawn to that you're gonna be wasting cakes.

Yeah I dono I use horse poo from a farm. My friend used to take a jar full of popcorn spawn and put potting soil on it and had some fun. There is a million ways to do it.

Alright, well can I still use this mix as a casing layer? I'd crumble/cut the cakes and spread them with this soil.
Atomic, you said it was useless to add verm to the mix? I thought I'd add some because the ratio seems to be pretty low, and that most of the mixes I see use a verm ratio of about 50%.

Yes, that stuff should be fine for a casing layer. Be sure and let the cakes recolonize after you crumble before you case them.
I didn't say useless, just probably unnecessary. If you feel that the mix is not airy and fluffy enough then add a little. Most of the mixes you see are verm mixed with something else that has no verm in it. Your mix already has verm in it but if you feel that it needs it then add it until you feel its the right consistency.

The potting soil itself is pretty airy, so much that it seems it won't retain water long enough. At least, it looks like a 50% verm mix would do it better. Oh well, only time will say!
Thanks for your help!
