Go back to Grainger and get a Dayton blower, part number 4C566A. It's perfect for a 12 X 24 flowhood. RR

If they don't carry that model, get the next size up from it. You can always block off part of the intake to reduce the amount of air flow.
A 24" X 24" flow hood needs a blower in the 500 to 600 CFM range at 1" static pressure. If you don't find exactly that, just select the next one that's higher rated. RR

Wrong. A dimmer is a rheostat. You want a motor speed control. They are 2 differing things.
I might add, you can get great squirrel cage blowers. Used, at furnace repair places, for CHEAP. Just call around locally.

I can't believe more people haven't burned down their houses trying to use dimmers on motors. It took a few deaths of children in house fires for the NFPA to put the ban on them into the electrical code. For years they figured common sense would prevent electricians from hooking them up, and that's true, but often people do their own wiring without the qualifications. Of course, those people don't read the electrical code anyway, but having it in the National Electrical Code allows local authorities to charge them with manslaughter if anyone dies in the fire they cause. some people refer to fan controls as fan dimmers, got me confused up but from what i figure it's a matter of controlling the amps (like for a fan).

Spam Link Removed. has lots of perhaps valuable information
I'm still getting popups from that silly site. Even when I closed my browser they were there. The X button doesn't kill them, and they just come back. Please don't post links to sites like that in the future. RR
