intoxicants...reduce your consciousness and awareness

The redirect your focus, not diminish your consciousness.

Really? When you're really drunk, your focus is just on something else? Seems to me like awareness is genuinely diminished.

I meant to generalize about intoxicants. And "intoxicant" is a fairly vague word, carrying different meanings to different people.

It is a vague word. First thing that comes to my mind is alcohol. But I also felt it was vague enough to also cover psychoactive drugs like weed, psilocybin, mescaline, and etc. Wanted to stick to the same term that Sinbad used, so I put the word psychoactive in front of it.

My point is, I don't think anything you can inhale, ingest, or inject, can empower you. An individual's growth as a warrior is only earned by his/her actions, and can never be stolen, given, or traded. If this is true, then is any type of drug use necessary in the development of a warrior? If it is not necessary, then maybe it's not as valuable as I perceive it to be.

I can only speak for myself, of course, and I have experienced that my mind focuses more on internal processes while under the influence of alcohol.  I become highly aware of my ego and animalistic drives.  My *mind* or *higher self* or *conscience* or *wise old man version of myself* or *the voice in the back of my head* seems to be observing my *monkey mind* or *ego* or *immature child version of myself* or *the voice in the front of my head* from a couple of steps back.  My thoughts are going just as fast, but the associations become more abstract, and nature of my thoughts tend to focus on/observe the internal happenings/stimuli and the primal component of the relationships people have with each other and the environment.  The more I become intoxicated, the deeper I descend into this black hole of consciousness.  My awareness doesn't decrease, but rather is on another plane.  So yes, in a sense you are correct, I do not observe and process as many external stimuli because the focus is directed inward.  It, like marijuana, has now become similar to a mushroom trip for me. :mushroom2:

The psychedelic effects of marijuana have become for me now like a mushroom trip. I have finally *mastered* the act of smoking marijuana to elevate my consciousness after about 2 years of almost daily consumption (it's been about 4 years of usage total). I can now induce the same state of mind as when I meditate or trip.

Breaking through the barrier was a long and difficult proccess. I had to travel through the catacomb's of Hell to get to Heaven, and extreme psychic and physiological horrors obstructed the path. The dissolution of my life into the "lake of fire" was a constant torment that took almost 3 years to complete, and only now, less than a week after my 20th birthday, am I beginning to emerge.

i think i could definitely use some advice from you!
cannabis

well, its been a year since using and i'm trying to get it again. for some reason i am plagued with doubt and victim consciousness which makes me think "man no on will ever get you some" and things like that, even though i'm talking to a friend about it right now.... something to do with not trusting others and not trusting the universe

so when i used to use, i became very familiar with the suicidality of smoke inhalation.... nothing should ever be smoked in a habitual pattern at all, ever.... but i also learned about the psychedelic properties and the benefits of very very slight doses so as to basically shave one's mind silent and facilitate meditation

it is a very nice tool with very nice effects, i learned quite a bit from it........ i want to try it again now after a year break but have some doubts and hesitancies.

Part of the reason you don't trust anyone is because you don't trust yourself.
For me weed has always been a great help, especially when I had trust related issues.
By entering that deep introspective state I could analyze my feelings, thoughts and fears.
I used to get freaked out by these fears in the beginning, but after taking a deeper look I became aware of the fact that there was nothing to be afraid of and no reason to run away. That they were kine and since I was aware of that I could always control them.
So little by little I managed to heal myself from these fears and came back with my lesson learned.
The reason I'm telling all that is because I think, maybe you should get some courage and talk to your friend to get you some weed.
Try to overcome your fears and confusions, and the sooner the better, because the more you keep them in the dark, the scarier they become.

I talked to him

I went through the realizing my victim mind is bullshit stage, but life seems to be setting me up to where people are kind of flaky. I talked to this guy about LSD and he was like yes we can definitely get some when it's around, then for whatever reason we were supposed to hang out to play music and he didn't return calls and he stopped sitting next to me in class.

Then I imagined that we had a heart connection during a class and he sat down with me again. I asked him about weed and he says there should be some in this week, so I merely have to talk to him again about it and see how it goes.

Initially I had a large amount of trust it is just the apparent perceptual flakiness on my end that makes me wonder what the deal is exactly.

I've given a lot of blood and it hasn't been returned, not with him, but in other instances. There is so much potential though so I really want to just trust and connect again.

There's a possibility that, when you first asked about the LSD, you weren't so sure on yourself and somehow he might of felt that.
We all have that subconscious instinct in defending ourselves, and drugs in our time are a big issue.
Are a big issue because we all have out moments when we fear we might get caught, then comes in consideration the people we hang out with. Some of us had some harsh experiences in that domain too, meaning that some people become "something else" when high and that affects us psychologically.
There are many possible reasons why he avoided you, as well as it could be he is a liar who likes to talk about drugs but in fact he can't get any.
You know better how or who he is and in which of these categories he might be in.
As a final suggestion, I'd say you pay a little more attention to this guy because he already had a "weird" moment. Could be nothing but you never know.
Real friendships are very hard to make and until you find a real friend you might come across many fake ones. But I see no reason in making a drama out of it since probably we all want real friends but we don't know how...
Take care and enjoy your weed. It's a delight to smoke after a long period of abstinence.
