Whats on my Lawn?: Pans and Foes

To my suprise, I woke up on Sunday morning and looked down my block and every park, grassway and lawn had mushrooms on it. and I have several questions I would like answered by some of the more experienced hunters.
1. Ive recently come to the discovery of Panaeolina foenisecci having an occasional twisted stem similar to that of Panaeolus Subbalteatus. why is this?
2. I have trouble finding the difference between Pan. Casters and the Subb and Foe other than visible bluing. Is there another way?
3. Can anybody tell me anything about Panaeolus Microspora or the other Subb look-alikes? (excluding Foenisecci)
The help would be much appreciated.
I have been finding large amounts of lawn mushrooms everywhere i go. Including subbs. My laptop is broken for now so no new pictures can be uploaded for a while but the beautiful pictures will come soon. (I have so many!);)

Very subtle differences, you get an eye for them when you've looked at 'em enough. Subbs usually have a lighter lining on the edge of the gills, not always. Some say that the gills of a subb don't hang below the margin, I beg to differ on that one. Subtle things like a helical stipe. Anyway, all the information you seek is here. Start in the rules thread. Gumby and mj have done some great pages on identification, especially P. subbalteatus, it's up to you to find it

Ive read mj's and Gumby's sections on panaeolus mushrooms. just throw .02 this way if you want thats all. thank you though. and a helical stem? ive never heard of that term and im too lazy to look it up.

Panaeolus microspora Ola'h & Cailleux, is not known to be psychoactive in the wild.
However, on several occasions these mushrooms were grown in vitro at a lab at Université Laval in Quebec by Gyorgy-Milos O'lah. The lab shrooms produced psilocine and psilocybine, however, in all of wild collecions they failed to detect those tryptamines in the wild collections. Similar in appearance to other Panaeolus shrooms

I might add that there are presently four species of Panaeolina in the genus.
I guess they are all macroscopically similar to one another and are also probably all not psychoactive whatsoever.

i thought there may be... theres just too many differences between each of em. some will have a nob at the top, other wont. some have rings and others dont. some are tan, some are dark reddish brown. i wish i could get an in depth chart or statistic on these things.

Panaeolina has no annulus or veil remnant (rings.
The knobby top is an umbo. They can also have a protrude and even a nipple and some will have all three.
Try not to confuse others with your confusion.
The color bands are known as zonate. or bands of colors.
The changing of colors in certain families of mushrooms means they are hygrophanous. That means they change colors when drying or with age.
If you are going to post those kind of comments here for others to read then at least try to read a few guides on what characteristics each species you are interested in have and what families you are interested in have.have.

... and "rings" meant the zonate. im sorry once again.
