this jar was left incubating for too long (maybe 5 days after fully colonized, then taken out of the incubator and left to sit for a few extra days. there are now 3 gray spots, was just wondering if this jar was normal/still good to use (cased)?

I see orange/yellow spawn piss
those jars look ready for the next stage if you wait too long after they are ready thats what usually happens to them
unless its a form of cobweb... I think your ok from the pic

I can't really see the pictures that well but letting fully colonized jars sit for an extra 5, even 7 days, is completely normal and beneficial.

Excuse me. Spawn piss? My buddy gave me a bunch of his old jars and one case was full of active jars not empty. Most of them had yellow liquid which I assumed was contamination however the cakes looked great. I threw them all away including the jars. This may have been a mistake?

Which isn't too long. However, you'll have to take an in focus picture to get help. RR

Mycellium doesn't not have a bladder- it does not pee. MycoPiss is a very bad term. Its misleading to the new cultivators. Its being used less adn less now that people understand what it is, but every day or so someone says it. It is metabolites and natural anti-biotics, mixing with the water in the jar. Normally the medium would soak it up- but being unnatural in a jar it pools.

If thats a camera phone pic I can understand the quality. But if its not, then you should get a lamp and light up the jar- then take a picture without the flash on. Make sure you stay as still as possible. Most camera have a "macro/flower" setting that works wonders.

Well of course I didn't truely think it was urine but I had never seen a metabolic by product and just assumed it was slime mold or something.
