legalization soon
    #6765123 - 04/09/07 12:41 PM (16 years, 11 months ago)

Although there are probably many other topics pretty much on the same subject or very closely related... I would just like to straight out say for sure so when it happens I can be like "I predicted it in writing"... so here it is.... MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION IN AMERICA IS COMING SOON. ITS JUST INEVITABLE.

so dont worry I swear it will be in a few years. (maybe like 5-10)

wont happen only because the production of it is too hard for the gov to control and in order to legalize it they would have to collect tax on it meaning that you would only be able to get it through them... similar to the tie between tobacco/alcohol and the gov

Only possession of up to 8 ounces for adult use. You can't buy, sell or grow the stuff.

If you wanted it to happen, you could work at making it happen.

That's what democracy is supposed to be about, anyway.

sort of, its a grey spot similar to where I live. Here you can have up to an ounce BUT it cannot be in a bag because they will then charge you with contempt to sell and even though trace amounts are "legal" (sort of) they generally will take it away from you and might even give you a 50$ fine...

So it's only permissable if it appears out of thin air?

about as crooked as the marijuana stamp act that made it an illicit substance in the first place: lets make a stamp you have to buy to grow/sell/have marijuana so that the gov can get their taxes off of the plant, catch is to obtain a stamp you have to have marijuana on you as a "proof", thing is if you have it w/o the stamp its illegal so everyone applying for the stamp at first got hit... poor Samuel Caldwell

i'd say 10-20 years, it's already getting more and more lenient in many states, i know here in cali if you have under an ounce it's only a ticket.

Apparently anyone else who posted in the topic.
I'm starting to get the feeling you are a hard head.

Legalization is gonna take a while for the reason someone said above, they have to tax it and it will only be attainable through the government. With it being fairly easy to grow good strains, people will still continue to do so and sell it cheaper than wherever you could buy it legally, and if you got stopped with it there would be no way to tell if you purchased it legally or illegally.

I think it will just become a complete "grey spot" issue but never completely legalized only because of the difficulties to obtain taxes on homegrown goods.

There's just way too much undeniable evidence out there showing that all prohibition does is cause many more (if not all) problems associated with marijuana. And I think that goes for most drugs too, even hard drugs which really are slightly damaging/dangerous... all that making it illegal and making them have to get it illegaly etc. does is cause many more problems which we could possibly eliminate if we regulated it and changed our views (not mine but like "americas") on addicts and users.

I can recall many instances when authoritative figures have used the term "insanity" with the definition of repeating the same actions expecting different results each time. Well, it's easy to come up with that term when looking at prohibition. Alcohol prohibition did nothing but cause many more problems and helped gangs make a shitload of money. So they fairly quickly re-legalized it and now they make a lot of money off of it. Despite the fact that it is proven to be more dangerous then drugs like marijuana and if you look at fatality rates, moreso then LSD and mushrooms. So are we living under an insane government expecting for this bullshit "war on drugs" to somehow decrease any problems or decrease drug use? I remember reading reports recently talking about how big trafficking busts don't do anything to block drug flow into our country because there is still that demand out there and they will find other drugs till getting into the country.

LEGALIZE IT
