looks to be stalled

My brazilian BRF/verm jars seem to have slown down alot in growth. They have barley moved since last week (when I flipped them over). I dont check them often, maybe once every 3-5 days. I flipped them back right side up yesterday and loosened the lids to like they were before they got flipped. Im using 1QT so I know it takes a while to colonize, and the cake dislodged itself when I turned them over. I think Ill leave them alone for a week, you guys think they are stalled?
Here is a pic from a week ago..

If I understand correctly, one of the more common reasons for stalling like that is poor gas exchange-- the other prime cause is moisture problems.

I would recommend sticking with pints. Not only are they much faster to colonize, they don't taper like those quart jars, so you don't have to destroy the cake to get it out. If you want to make bigger cakes, I've had some success using 1.5 pint jars(size b/t pint and quart. Use tapered jars for grains. You didn't say how long it's been since you inoculated or what you have for Gas Exchange so its hard impossible to say if they are stalled. I would just wait and see what happens, good luck.

Why do you have foil between your jar and lid ring? What are you using for gas exchange?
How were you planning on getting your substrate/spawn out of your jar?
were you planning on making a casing, or spawning it to a bulk substrate?

Im switching to rye for my next grow with cambos. Its been a little over a month since inocluation. Its going to be spawned to coir, and then cased with 50/50. I have the tin-foil under the lid because that is a pool of dry verm to act as the filter. Its a first grow so I thought it would decrease my chances of contams. It was stupid using 1qt jars for BRF, cant wait to start the grains. I had tin-foil on the tops of the jars also but I took that off to allow for gas exchange, there is no tape over the 4 holes on the lids.

open them up and give them some air...theres a chance of Contam but everytime I opened my jars It has only Helped speed up the colonization and never had contam problems..I often add sterile water to my jars when they stall often they are oo dry so some water and air would prolly help alot....

Making PF style jars out of quarts was a bad idea. I doubt they will ever fully colonize. Next time use pints or half pints for PF, and save the quart jars for grain.

so should I just wait a week to see if they finish and if they dont, spawn the colonized parts?

Maybe take the colonized BRF and spawn something better, like Horse poo. Once you go poo you never go back. Better to spawn from a shakable grain though. They colonize much better and its easier to get the moisture content right. In my younger days I used rice flour and had some crappy results. Gran and bulk substrates are where you really start learning. There are a million teks for this as well.

You need to make sure your cakes have adequate air exchange (w/out drying them out)
This can be done with holes in the lid or by loosening the cap-- as long as there's a layer of verm. over the tip of the cake, any airborne contams won't be able to get into the contamination-prone cake, whilst still allowing CO2 and O2 to cycle during the mycelial growth process...
