I have some reishi mycelium on oats id like to make into some medicine.
Does anyone know the dosage recommendations for mycelium? I yielded about 2lbs dry from a large spawn bag. It has mycelium, oat kernels, and some fruit body.

There won't actually be that much mycelum there. I'd just slice it up and boil in a gallon or two of water for a few hours. Add water several times as it boils off.
Later, you can add some regular tea bags for flavor. Reishi tea by itself can be pretty bitter. I drink it every day. RR

Ill be making medicinal maple syrup w/ this reishi block.
The way I do it is to simmer the mushrooms in 2-3x more water then Id like for 1-2hrs, then transfering the mushrooms to fresh water and repeating. While the new batch is simmering w/ the mushrooms, the last batch is slowly evaporating its excess water. Once Im satisfied that most/if not all of the medicine is out of the mushrooms, I strain the tea and combine the liquids, continually evaporating.
For medicinal maple syrup, I add maple syrup to my water decoction, then slowly evaporate all the water till nothing but the maple syrup is left. It makes a potent hot water extraction of medicinal mushrooms that is preserved in syrup This can be taken in tablespoonfulls daily in water, w/o needing to make fresh tea daily. I have done this w/ Chaga fruitbodies and have had a friend do it with Turkey Tails. This will be my first reishi experiment, as well as my first mycelium extraction.

The chaga was great, but sat too long. Turkey Tails taste great already so no surprise they were pretty palatable in maple syrup.
I use Grade B syrup, very dark w/ lots of maple flavor, that could help w/ more bitter mushrooms.
I look forward to experimenting more with it, its sugaring time now so its a good time to buy syrup. I still have many pounds of dried wild maitake from last fall that I am thinking of doing a mass syrup making operation with. Id like to bottle it up and sell it at the local farmers markets. For maitake Christopher Hobbs suggests 3-7g/day in tea or food. Im thinking of making it about 4gms/oz and having an oz be a daily dose. I think if I can get the process down this could be a nice way of taking the medicine.
