How long?

How long can you wait before you know for sure that your (PF tek) rice cakes are duds? I already posted that I used a 10 cc syringe for 14, 1/2 pint jars and I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough and you guys said it should be fine (thanks guys). But I was wondering if 10 days is too long with no activity in the jars I mean NO changes. Responses are respected and appreciated.

Most TEKs say wait 14 days...if no germination occurs by then either the syringe was bad or you have some type of bacterial infection/contamination going on in the jar. Make sure too your incubator's conditions are proper for incubation: 82-84 F.

sorry man it sounds like something went wrong. Try turning them upside down to gte some air exchange this might cause a flush of growth...hopefully it will grow!!!

that could be your problem....not enough spores.

you might want to give them another week.
they still might make it.

what are the temps in your incubator?
that might be your problem too.
84 degrees is a good temp to use.

I innoculated 4 jars and waited about 2 weeks before realising my temp. was way too low.
Got the aquarium heater setup and 1 day later viola.
So you should check your temperature.
I`ve found jars being dormant for 3 almost four weeks, expose them to the correct temp. and they flourish

I use alot per jar just to avoid this situation your in now. I use one 10cc syringe for about 8 or 9 jars. I like to make sure there is alot in there. Plus the more there is the faster the will colonize the entire jar(s). Peace
