quick question about ultrasonics

i was just wondering how crutial it is to remove all of the fog out of the air when using a ultrasonic fogger?
i am in the process of setting up to grow some mushrooms, and i am currently using some BRF cakes as test dummies. i have discovered thru trial and error that using a 30mm PC fan any more then 15mins on / 6 hours off will dry the cakes out, causing either no mushrooms, or very small mushroom. and if you don't ventilate it more then every 6 hours, you also end up with small mushrooms. so to counter this i figure if i use an ultrasonic fogger to blow humid air into my FC, as well fresh air at the same time - i should be able to ventilate my FC every 2hours for 15mins.
i have my fogger floating in a half full 20lt bucket with a 50mm PC fan mounted in the lid(running on 4.5v rather then 12v to slow it down) from there i have a 2ft length of 25m "ridged" tubing running to the bottom of another 20lt bucket, and then another 2ft length of tubing from the top of the bucket going to my FC. then on the opposite side from the inlet to the fruiting chamber there is a right angled piece of pipe which is fixed 3cm above the perlite layer(still debating if perlite is necisary with the ultrasonic fogger) and ducts air from the bottom of the FC to higher up the side of the tub and out.(my FC is in a tub of water to warm it, so i couldn't just drill exhaust holes in the bottom of the FC for obvious reasons.)
my timer only goes in 15min increments, so i have it set to run 15min on / 2hours off. however, after only a few minutes of being oon, the FC is full of fog, so of course the FC remains completely fogged out for 15mins. i am uncertain as to how critical it is to remove all the fog..will it damage the cakes or mushrooms if to much fog makes it to the FC?
thanks for the help.

I think it's just the force of being directly sprayed with vapour which damages the mycelium. As long as the outlet doesn't point directly at your cakes, they ought to be fine.
Good idea, by the way.

In my experience, once the FC fills with dense fog, continuing to run it results in what is basically rain. Since you are fruiting cakes, you should be able to keep an eye on them.
I solved my problem by buying a programable timer switch.
Or you could get rid of the fan and the humidifyer using small holes: terrarium
