the recipe calls for
Boil 200 grams of peeled and sliced potatoes in 1 liter of water until the potatoes are soft. Strain through cheesecloth and adjust the filtrate to 1 liter with more distilled water.
Add 10 to 20 grams dextrose and 12 to 17 grams agar. Autoclave 15 min at 121ยบ C. Pour autoclaved medium into sterile Petri plates. Makes approximately 40 plates

now i have a ? does 100% agar powder work heres the stuff im thinking of buying http://www.nutritiongeeks.com/details2.asp?Prod=agar-agar-now-2oz&Prodgp=agar-agar-now&gclid=COvLnamLsosCFSm3hgodTg_Qwg

Get a 20 or 50 pack of sterile plactic ones.
Best bang for the buck.

Plastic is the way to go. I go through a case of 500 in less than two months. That would be an impossible amount of glass ones to wash and sterilize. In addition, one or two dropped and broken ones cost as much as a whole sleeve of plastic dishes. I donated all my glass Petri dishes to a local school years ago.
