Overlay
    #675871 - 06/12/02 11:31 PM (22 years, 4 months ago)

2 of my casings got overlay. Today I scratched the one surface and applied a new coco coir casing layer. I flipped the other one around and recased. Was either of these a good move and if not what should I do?

Also, I noticed when I lifted the mycelium up that mushrooms had grown on the sides, but none of them made it to the surface. Some were going sideways and some to the bottom. The casing trays are not translucent and they are in a clear container. My other casing have not done this. Why could this be?

Thank you.

Well I`m guessing it`s entirely due to your overlay.
The mushrooms cn`t grow through the overlay most likely, so the easiest way to grow is below it or away from it.

Flipping it should be fine and the scraping and recasing.
Just give it some time and see what happens.
Patience is a virtue.
