Is picking out what's going onto my iPod. Times like this I wish I had more than 2g
I never listen to everything on there, but its nice to have a selection of music to fit the mood at the moment. So far, my list is.
1. Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano - Live at Sense Club, Mutek 2004 2. Junction SM @ Mutek 2006 3. Monolake - Frigid Sydney 4. SpeedyJ/Collabs Live @ Detroit 5. Plastikman - Musik 6. Hawtin vs Bug - Low Blow 7. Biospere - Fires of Orc II 8. Hawtin @ The Pawn Shop, WMC2007 9. Part 2 of Hawtin @ Even Further
1. This is a stellar set that is pure-headfuck in a way that sounds so wrong it sounds right. Glithced beats, tweaked melodies and moments of intensity that even while sober has you thinking "oh shit".
2. This set made me techno-gasm last time I listented to it, trippy, beautiful and melodic.
3. Something a bit more on the mellow side, icy and cool - a sparse minimal soundscape that takes you on a little trip.
4. Loud, Fast, Banging and in your face - listented to this on an acid trip awhile ago and was actually suprised at how well it 'worked' - this set is like a celebration of life and seeing beauty within chaos. The set taks you on moments of self doubt, fear - but then breaks through it all giving you an "Fuck it all, I'm ontop of the world", with a feeling of "dont let others get you down, you can always rise above it"
5. As much as I love Hawtin/Plastikman, Musik is one album I have yet to actually sit down and listen to start to finish. Certian tracks on it I do really enjoy such as "Fuk", so figured I'd toss this on here and give it the LSD treatment. Generally I'll load on Closer/Consumed as those tend to take me into a very introspective space, so curious to see what Musik has to offer.
6. A lone single track, a clean bassline with high pitched sounds that creep along it, this track always gets my feet moving.
7. One of my favorite ambient albums, songs like A Way To Focus the mind are relaxing tracks which really create a soundscape/enviroment around you. Figure I have so much high-energy music on here, it'll be nice to have a few tracks to mellow out and relax to.
8. What would an iPod for me be without atleast one Hawtin set, have not listented to this start to finish yet but gave it a quick skim, and seems to be Hawtin doing what he does best - bending your head. While his set at the beatport party was a bit of a letdown, this set seems like he's busting out some new tricks and fresh tracks, looking forward to listening to this one (sober or not)
9. This entire set is great, but running low on iPod space I've decided to toss on the 2nd part of the set, there is about a 40 min period where he just touches down on this spree of minimal that sums up everything I love about this genre, even 100% sober its given me chills and thrust me into my 'happy place'
