How to make my mushrooms larger...
    #675469 - 06/12/02 05:07 PM (21 years, 10 months ago)

How do I go about making my fruits bigger? My EQs always seem kind of thin. Does dunking help?

Thanks,
Mycelium

Here's a couple for starters;

More nutritious substrate; i.e. DUNG. Even when environment isn't exactly perfect, dung can pump out larger fruits, assuming it's the right kind, prepared right, etc. Some would say the same for straw.

Keep the humidity as high as possible while still allowing sufficient gas exchange during pin formation/development. Little thin pins tend to form scraggly mush. Letting them get thick and fat before cutting the rH back can help give thicker fruits.

Some of that is going to be genetics dependent, but just about any cube can be grown fairly thick, at least from pics I've seen here

Hmm...I am using BRF substrate. I may be moving to birdseed eventually. If RH is kept high, will the fruits grow bigger?
