Potential to be good? Bullshit...nothing good will come of this.

Human nature is human nature; no vaccine will do anything to change that, those desires will just be acted out in another way. No has the right to fuck with a child's brain/life like that.

Not something of this a nature, no. To clarify, I just got through a four-year battle with addiction. Four years of living hell. So I know what addiction is like on the most personal level, and I've seen it's worst. Addiction is horrible, but there are other ways to prevent it....and there's no way to wipe it out. This is something caused deep within the psyche.

Think of it this way; this plan will PERMANENTLY alter the brain chemistry of people....children at that, on the vague hope that they won't use drugs later in life.  What about the consequences of this? I believe they have the potential to be much worse than that of any known drug. We're dabbling with things that are not meant to be dabbled with here, and our children are going to be the innocent victims. 

This story brings to mind the Baptist's plan of injecting fetus's with hormones to "prevent homosexuality".  Ridiculous. :thumbdown:

You can't have the good without the bad...by eliminating the potential to get addicted to something that makes you feel good you also eliminate the potential to just feel good.

Did you guys read the article? How does this sound bad at all? It's a shot that prevents ADDICTION. You can still use drugs, but you won't be come addicted. This doesn't even really apply to weed or acid.

Yeah I read it...and it's WRONG. Plain & simple. This is one step closer to complete mind control. If you want to vaccinate your kids, go for it.....but bring those needles near mine & we're going to have problems.

Did you even read any of the posts in this thread?

As for those of you who have: Where I think the potential lies is if it could be used later in life. You raise your children, educate them properly about drugs, and hopefully they can avoid addiction all together. But if a problem does arise, then this could help eliminate it. Sort of like a more effective methadone. Now obviously it would depend on how this would actually go about working. I didn't say it's good, I said it has the potential to be good.

You see my worries though right? This will NOT be used that way; it will be used by governments to exercise control over the masses.

Plus screwing with the the minds/brain chemistry of children like that is just wrong. If this would only be given to adults with drug problems that VOLUNTEERED for it, then maybe it'd be alright. But it won't be, and I can see it having some horrific side effects.

This is fucked up, this is a violation of our own natural free will! This is just another way for them to control us, fuck them and their machine!

If they go through with this, I'm keeping them the hell away from my kids when I have them!

whenever scientist come up with new ways of helping human sociert by altering the way your body is naturally born - it scares me.

Have the tested this out on an indivual and observed their completed life to see that there are no alterations to what they intended. So 80 years of observation, at least...

Well, I'm fairly confident that if it seriously messed up brain chemistry then they wouldn't use it. You all might be a little more paranoid about the control our governments want over us, but I have confidence that if it was dangerous they wouldn't use it. I'm also confident they would conduct the necessary studies before using it. This is also a UK thing, so if you are in the US it won't be necessary to gather your kids and run.

If they can figure out how it works then I think they would make it available to volunteering adults for rehabilitation. Why wouldn't they do that? It would save tons of money on rehab facilities and such I'm sure.

Esp. the rehab treatment.

I just get paranoid about government control in general. I do live in the U.S, and in my area I voted against the GP tracking devices that would be put into all sex offenders. It's not that i have a soft-spot for child rapists (in fact a bullet to the head is justice to me) but i feel like thats how it starts out- tracking devices on sex offenders (who could also be convicted of statutory rape - 19 year of guy and a 16 year old girls a little dif. to me) then to all convicted criminals, then to protect all our children and pets...
It's too much, i think.

So does anyone have any information on how this vaccine actually works?

If it works in a manner similar to classic "vaccines" it will create antibodies which will recognize a particular drug. These antibodies can be highly specific and ONLY bind to the specific chemical structure of a specific drug.

That is, this vaccine probably will not "premanently alter brain chemistry" and would allow an individual to respond to normal stimuli. it will block the actions of drugs, not prevent you from living and experiencing the joys of life.
