Hi,
So I tried the whole rye casing and was way to inexperienced and rushed, so I screwed it up bad, But now I am trying the PMP Verm/BRF cakes meathod to wet my feet butter and slap me in to shape. and here is my plea... I think somethig is wong.., but what?
I have 4 cakes, All were in a nice 80+ TIT. Two of them pinned and grew in their Jars, so I figured it was time to birth them into the PMP FC (standard translucent tub, maintaining 98% rh, and 65-74 F). For science sake I dunk and rolled just one of them. and here it is in my PMP:

Here is the other:

as you can see they have small mushies, the ones that grew while in the Jar, I was not sure about what to do with them, so I let them be... should they be circumsized or something?
These are the two others still in the TIT, They are almost fully colonized but not yet ready, the verm at the top is dry and ma give the appearance of an incomplete colonization. :

My PMP: Im going with natural light as its by the window(not direct of coarse). And the air flow is plentyfull.

C02 - not really a consern (as its a powerfull pump) Temp - started out low, (no heater in the Hydroton) but is now 66-74 F Light - a concern, should I try to add some Man Made luminance of the blueish tint?
It has been 3 days since birth, and I know I am impatient, but I want to know Im looking good. Thank you for all your reading and kind responses.
here are all the pics and more in high rez: http://picasaweb.google.com/Retardia/NewAlbum45071237PM?authkey=DPeaBGRuxvI

You should have dunk / rolled all of them. Cakes need all the moisture they can get. You should also fan / mist by hand occasionally if you don't.
The hygrometer you got is probably garbage and giving a false reading. Go to a cigar shop, and get an analog/mechanical hygrometer and follow the directions that come with it to calibrate it. It's easy.
In the end, you might be better off with perlite instead of the hydroton, but it's only been 3 days and you are just being impatient.

Ive got two digi hydrometers in there but if digitals really are that shitty I guess I should go get a new one, but I will need a second opinion.
why do you say its prolly crap, Is it unlikely that my PMP is acctually maintaining a high humidity?, I dont see why it wouldnt. PMP's rule!
I will be dunking the other two for surely.

Hmm, actually you're probably right. That setup should work well. In generaly though digital hygrometers are crap unless you paid a lot for it. They just cant read the high humidity very well.
Anyways, give it some more time and I think those should fruit out nicely.

What does the stipulation work out to with the prepinned booms (pinned and slight grow in Jar [see pics]) before birthing? Will that lil guy die for shure even after being dunked?
Tips for maintaining normalized temps throught day?
Thank you sir, for your consolences.
