They just require a little more caring attention in a pot than in soil, but then again you have the advantage of being able to position it wherever you want anytime. Always plant in a pot that is just a little bit bigger than the root "ball" of the plant, and keep moving up 1 size at a time once roots are coming out of the bottom of the pot. Of course, the pot size will limit the growth of the plant while it is in it, so if you want a big leaf producing plant, it is advisable to give it root stimulator often while growing it up so as to be able to transplant it into a large pot before you really start to work with it. In my experience with kratom, a 3 gallon pot can support a 3 foot cruiciform plant, or a 2 foot tall bushy one with ~100 leaves.
