What is this??
    #6746071 - 04/04/07 11:58 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Hi

My friend is very new to this.
He's read through a 1000 posts and still not 100% sure.
He says these jars have had a slightly less white colonization color from the word go than others he's seen before. It also looks slightly wet on the inside. There's a little bit of see through water threads sticking to the side It grew at the same speed as before, but diff color.
They have been going for 2,5 weeks.

It also looks like there might be some bacteria contam or something. Is this the case?
Are there signs of contam?

He really needs help.

ciao

It looks alright to me, but I'm no expert.

hopefully someone can drop an opinion.

Just let it go for a little while longer, and check on it every couple days.

If your really tripping, keep it separate from your other healthy ones - but again, it doesn't look too odd to me.

I see the pinkish tint, but you'll have to wait them out a bit longer. It looks like you may have made the brf up a bit too wet, or the incubation temperature is too high. If that's mold, you'll know in another week or so.

Thanks to all responses.

RR:
You are quite right- he added slightly more water. It was recommended by someone.
Amazing how you know this. It really was fractionally more than recommended in the major teks. Guess you've been around the block a couple of times.

Will teach him to not try and be smart.

Thanks- really appreciate it.

This site is probably the most usefull comunity site I've come accross.

If anything, make substrates on the dry side. They will colonize faster that way. It's easy to dunk for 24 hours after birthing to put the moisture for the flush in at that time. Making substrates or spawn up even a little bit too wet is a mistake.
