share your OCD tendencies...
    #6743911 - 04/03/07 08:27 PM (16 years, 11 months ago)

anyone else here have OCD?
if so share...

mine: I have to rub each side of every finger nail where it connects to the skin, if you get what I'm saying. Theres 4 sides and then the middle counts as 5, I do this to all my nails and it has to add up to 50. I get this feeling on the sides of my nails that is really anxious if I dont do this...its extremly hard not to do it when I have the urge

Also: I have to lick my two lips with my tongue, the upper and lower parts of the front of my teeth, same thing for the actual part of the teeth that chew, same thing for the back side of my teeth, and finally put my tongue in both sides of the gap under your tongue. this adds up to 10.

Its hard to explain just through typing, hope you get what I'm saying

I don't do this that often, on good days 0-3 times, when I'm having anxiety more...

Walking by boxes at work I run my fingernail along them to make it sound like farting noises. I usually touch or hit anything I walk by, too.

I don't microwave anything with a time ending in 0 or 5.

If I tap a table with a finger on one hand, I am normally compelled to do the same with the same finger on my opposite hand. This makes it 'even.' This does not just apply to tapping my fingers though, usually anything that can be made 'even' is made 'even.' I also have a parallelism issue. For instance, I cannot leave a book sit on a desk at an odd angle. I usually adjust it so that the edges of the book are parallel with the edges of the desk. This is an annoying habit to other people, but you should see my house!

I've gotten better since I was young and am encouraged to have found out that this is common in children and usually outgrown.

I always have to check after I touch a light switch to make sure I flipped it all the way, and it's not stuck in the middle. If I walk out of a room without checking, I'll get really anxious and have to go check, then five seconds later, I'll go back to check again. This sometimes happens for or five times.

I make my peanutbutter sandwitches the exact same way every time.

I open the bread (i use 3 pieces), and spread across the bottom starting in the bottom left hand corner, then moving up the right hand side, across the top (towards the left), and then complete the square. Repeat for the other piece of bread.

Once its all together, i eat the bottom left hadn corner first, then the bottom right hand corner, then the top left and top right. After those are gone i have 4 sides and no corners. I eat the bottom (rough) side first, then the top, then the two sides.

After i have the innards of a PB sandwitch, I smush the center, and continue pressing working my way outwards, eating the excess bread until i have a small extremely thin PB sandwitch, in which case i usually freestyle from here. Either make it into a square or a circle, triangle maybe. I made a trapezoid once.

that's just my main OCDness, i have more. my dad and sister are both slightly OCD too (counting chews ect. my dad actually counts how many times he gulps when he drinks... not for any reason, he just counts, haha)

I have a thing about how I sleep. It is always on my stomach with my head turned left or right. If my head is facing right it is my head, arm, single pillow, then bed in that order from top down. If my head facing left it is my head, pillow, arm, bed from top down. I also always have to have my feet completely wrapped by the blanket. If I cannot do either of those I can very very rarely fall to sleep.

I used to have a really bad case of OCD last year....I was washing my hands up to 50 times a day. Work and school together piled up with bullshit here at the home was what caused it.

Ironically, I was prescribed Prozac and it did help a little....not fully. Once I started smoking pot again after a lengthy hiatus, my racing thoughts and compulsive tendencies disappeared.

Thank Heavens for the wacky tobaccy.
