What is the best size container/tray for casing pint size PF jars? Would 8" x 3 7/8" x 2 15/32" disposable loaf pans work well?

You may notice, as I did, that the dimensions of the trays used in many tutorials (which I have read along with many others) are not mentioned. There are a pictures but I since the dimensions aren't given I have been having a problem finding a pan that perfectly matches the images. Some trays seem pretty shallow...
On top of that I've seen MANY different shapes and sizes but the amount of cake (or whatever) used isn't given. The best I have come up with is that a pan that allows for at least two inches of substrate is what's most commonly used. Is this correct? Will the pans I mentioned (Which would allow for a bit more than 2 inches using 1 pint) work well?

I like more squarish pans. I used a bread pan, and it didn't work out nearly as well as my shallow square type pans. YMMV.

OK, square and more shallow is better...
Now what dimensions would you use for pint jars? Would that be about 1/2" bottom layer, 2" substrate and 1/2" casing layer?

So many of you guys must know the answers I'm looking for. I'm kind of surprised that it's not in the various grow logs and such.

oh its there bud, all the info you could ever know has most likely been said at one point or another. this site has been around for nearly a decade (if not more, pardon my ignorance).
2 things to think about when deciding dimensions of trays: -width/length for maximum amount of trays to fit in w/e you'll be incubating/fruiting in. -depth. deeper the better. may take a day or two longer to fully colonize, but the fruits will be bigger and your flushes more numerous.
also, something that came to me just now... my first grow i used foil baking rectangular trays (forgot dimensions), but became frustrated at their lack of stability when stacking (say, in your incubator). i'd shoot for the plastics and line with foil. meh, just a thought.

Cool, thanks for the info. Sounds like my loaf pans will give me the depth you're talking about.
I don't have to worry about stacking so I think I'll stick with them for my first try at casing.
I really wish the search was able to be more helpful as I'm sure you're right that the info is here. One can only read so many unhelpful threads before asking a question.
