I did and it worked too well. I squirted too much juice in my first batch and the stuff was litterally growing it's way out of the jar then into the tape outside the jar which is when it contaminated and I had to pitch it. Anyhow yes it works. My guess is a drop or two will do though. I did that with some oysters and they're doing nicely now.

I've done it successfully before, and I've also failed several times...The key seems to be in the amount of spore solution you use...Less is more in my opinion...

I'm 100% with you on this, but man, IME, it's just dang near improbable that I'm going to be able to get a drop out by depressing the plunger on the syringe, and at the same time trying to hold open the petri dish lid at an angle into the laminar flow, it's hard.

If two drops or even three land, it won't kill your plate. One is usually enough though, especially if you're doing strain isolations. Just be sure to put one drop on each of a dozen plates so you can isolate out a LOT of strains to find the best performer(s). RR
