Firsttime cultivator here.So i get these two mycobags like a month ago and they still havent fruited, i intelligently decided to cut one of them open the other day and begin spraying it with water to get it to start fruiting, ended up getting some nice mold on the cake a few days later. This is my surviving uncut(bag) cake. It is B+ on an unknown substarte i bought off eBay. Its been colonizing for approx. 5 weeks in 76 degree temp. and i assume high humidity within the bag.....How do i get this thing to start fruiting?

I agree wil Giblet, but try giving them air inside a sterile environment such as a glovebox so the myc completes spreading which it needs to do before pinning, or if not possible just wait a little longer to see if it pins on its own. Air could be the main problem, temp isnt that important to trigger pinning, it'll happen even at that temp. Light doesnt matter much as long as there is SOME light (even unnatural), it will stimulate pinning.
If you dont have a glovebox you could sterilise a plastic bag, clean the insides somehow (solvent/alcohol/etc) including the air, and improvise by briefly opening it to put the myco bag inside, open and squeeze the myco bag inside that bag for a bit to get some air, close it and take it out.

I have never used a mycobag so I'm not really sure what to do with them. Considering I'm on my first grow i chose to go with a simpler method so i would not be stuck asking these kinds of questions :P
good luck
Also i got tons of hits by typing "fruiting mycobag" in the search...

FAE = fresh air exchange.
Remove fully colonized substrate from bag. Place the substrate lump on a grate over a damp perlite tray. Inside a tote/tub/terrarium. Give it LOTS of FAE. 12/12 off/on light cycle. Normal room temps (72F) Mist as needed.
No need to add or cover with any casing. (as substrate lumps are hard to cover) It should form pins, shortly.

And make sure it is 100000% colonized. Someone here just jumped the gun a bit with a spawn/sub bag and got green nasties. Bright white all over!

Thanks all good suggestions!
But has anyone read/ know anything about invitro pinning&fruting , wherein the cake is never removed from the bag and u just get flushes in the bag? Is this possible with my bag?

yes. just block light from the sides so all your fruits grow on top. read monstermitch's bulk technique in his journal for an overview of the whole process.

So what's the verdict with the 2 bags? I'm a 1st time grower too and they are B+ in mycobags as well. Me though like an idiot got confused with all the different info i cut open the bag after mold started to form. Someone said it was better to make sure they had burst of fresh air and to be misted. Then I re-sealed it and shook it up to colonize more. Let me know cuz I want to get really good at growing these things!!!

Well, I agree 100% with Agar. I think attempting an invitro fruit is not going to be nearly as successful as pulling the spawn from the bag and dropping it in a proper terrarium once you reach 110% mycelium.
I've seen the ads on eBay. They show a bag with a ton of shrooms growing in or out of it through slits. And yes, this is a practice used by some, and yes, it can work. But you've got some strikes against you, being green (novice and contaminated.
I actually purchased the same bag as you did, I'm pretty sure. Did it have a self-healing injection port, or just the filter patch?
I dumped 6cc of Golden Teacher spores in mine, then cased the giant block of spawn in 50/50 casing with a touch of manure. This was my second grow, and so far the results are incredible. FAT A$$ shrooms, huge flushes....I'll never go back Spawn bags to casing is my fave. method, bar none.

So what your sayin is that after the bag is nothin but white fuzzy mycelium you take it out, put it in a container then comes the casing and fuckin big ole fatties? I got the B+ strain for me and some friends. We wanna trip and keep the shroomies growing big and fat!

Amanita Muscaria only grows in association with roots of certain trees, So basically its impossible to cultivate them indoors like you would cubes.

Spike, those jars that you see are functioning just like your spawn bag. They are not fruiting chambers.
BTW:manita is also legal and easily found if you know where to look
I've found patches in Michigan so large you could fill garbage bags with them.

Fucking beautiful, when I mean that I want to grow them I mean you know like in my backyard. I do remember reading that they aren't illegal as long as they are used for decoration and junk. Not for human consumption... Ya right... They have prints from sporeworks.com but no syringes. So ya and stuff I stuck my mycobag on the 22nd of last month, day before my b-day. Good present so like after all the white stuff was getting all on the sides and on top I was told to mix the bag and let it do it again. I opened it and moistened a little and shook that clump up. About 2 days ago actually, so it should start to speed up colonization right? I hope so, I want a good yeild. I'm open to tips from the ones who get the good yeilds with the bags or just plain know what the fuck is up. Fucking teach me!!!

Little eye candy there for ya all...

It's gotta be too cold where I'm at it just got done snowing and even though it's all starting to melt I think I need to wait another month or 2. Does anyone know what kind of growing conditions amanitas like? So anyways I was looking at my bag this morning now I can't be too sure if it's just that the mycelium is just starting to show up again or if it's the dreaded grey mold!!! I pray to god I didn't fuck up my 1st grow. Damn that would fucking suck!. Why doesn't anything ever work out for me.
So I am curious about amanitas, I've seen them in fields growing in grass. Can they live off grass? Cuz you could find a way to do it that way... Not sure but just a thought. So ya just let me know what the deal is all of that. If you got the amanita's picked dried and stuff let me know cuz they make great incense!!!

You gotta let me know cuz I heard they are illegal to purchase. So does anyone know how you can grow them in your yard, maybe what kind of weather is best to wait for and anything else on their grow cycle and shit. Never had amanitas b4.
Also back to my myco-bag and first grow. I am kinda curious, when you are just trying to grow mycelium do they need a light cycle? The little white puffs are developing so slowly and I want to know cuz I have heard about people being able to get a harvest around 1 month. I inoculated the bag on the 22nd of march and there's still not enough white stuff in it. I got a constant temp of about 75 degrees f. and it's just not taking off like I had expected.

So it's been about a month so far with my bag and all I got is white fluffs of mycelium growing in random spots. I'm cautious to mix it all up again to continue the spread cuz I think some pins are coming up. Not sure so I think I'll wait and see. If not then another good mixing is in order!
So did everyone quite looking at this topic or what?

Should I leave the top off the terrarium at any point? For how long? Is it a good idea to add water between flushes, if so, how?

Wait, so you're saying that you opened the bag up, and misted the actual grains inside, before it was done colonizing? If that's what you did, thats almost a guaranteed contamination right there. You never want to expose uncolonized grains to the air. Sounds like you need to do some research about cultivation.

Well I think your right, I think it's fucked up. I swear if there's a way to fuck shit up I'll figure it out. So many people saying different shit. Well I guess that's how you learn and shit. Time to order another bag and inject all over again! Fuck!!! It just seemed to take so long and it was getting to me. I thought I was doing something wrong. So once it is fully colonized at 150% then I do what? The grow bags I got from the mycofactory didn't come with any instructions. Also they have one grain bag with virgin coffee seed rinds to speed up growth. Think it's worth a shot?
