Weather and Mechanistic Behavior

I have found that my mood is often at the whim of weather patterns. Yesterday it was chilly and cloudy, and I felt totally depressed and anxious for a good part of the day. Yoga was a burden, my body hurt, my joints cramped up and ached from the cold moisture in the air.

Today it's sunny and already in the high 60s, and I just feel totally refreshed, alert, and alive.

Joan Didion wrote a really good piece that I read in high school about the effect of the Santa Ana winds on people in California, and it really stuck with me. Weather is one of the greatest reminders that we are all interconnected, that we are all part of the organism of the Earth. Learning to overcome mechanistic, depressive reactions to weather, to center yourself even on the coldest and bleakest of days, can go a long way towards improving your relationship with yourself and others I think.

Can the outside weather affect you if you are in a windowless room with fixed temperature, pressure and humidity?

I am a master at cloud dispersal. I can just look at a cloud and it will move and disperse. My power is legend.

Of course. The larger the cloud the longer it takes to disperse of course. I have dispersed hurricanes while sleeping before...it just took a few weeks.

Maybe when you are more accomplished you will be able to perform feats of mastery like my own. A little more time kneeling at the feet of masters should do the trick...assuming you can afford the cost of the workshops.

Of course it can. For instance, if it were really windy outside, one could possibly hear the wind, or feel the room shake due to the wind, or an earthquake, or one could hear a thunderstorm... A windowless room with fixed temperature, pressure, and humidity isn't necessarily going to protect one from being affected by a hurricane or a tornado or a flood or a tidal wave or an earthquake...
