Is this safe..........?

I just pulled my jars out of the pressure cooker. I used the PF Tek method, and I put the aluminum foil dome with the verm on top. I wrapped 12 of them in a clean towel and placed them in my closet. I have not innoculated them yet, is it safe to keep them there? Please reply asap, thanks!

It would have been better to keep them in the PC. Once you've taken them out, I'd say it's better to inoculate as soon as possible. You don't want the contams to get a foothold before the mycelium starts growing.

I like to let them cool inside the pressure cooker for up to 6 hours. When they are hot they will suck in air as they cool! This is not a problem while they are still super hot (directly after pressure cooking whole grains) but I still suggest that you leave them inside the PC. Ughm, I've heard of some people taking them out and storing them in Lysol-Sprayed tupperware containers!

does it harm it to "re-cook" them, can i put them back in the pressure cooker for another 45 minutes... or will that in someway harm them? or do you even think they need it?

don't re-cook them. they will become over cooked! there is no need to re-cook them.
just let them sit for about 6 hours after you cook them. then inoculate them with your syringe.

yeah, i left mine under my bed for about 2-3 week before innoculating, and 7 our of my 12 jars fully colonized, the other 5 didnt not because i left them too long, but because my spore syringe sucked eggs, Im surprised i got any growth at all to tell ya the truth. I had one jar become contaminated, black pin mold, the green, and lipstick, all on a part of the substrate which wasnt colonized, so i too it out, cut half of it off, did Hippie's bleach dunked tek(too long, i sort of fucked up this cake and an other with this method, i left it in the bleach solution way too long, but they are fighters, comming back getting all fluffy again, it was looking really bad at first, the surface of the cakes were all smooth and shinny, im assuming i killed off the outside layer and it had to be recolonized) so right now i have 1 and a half cakes almost about to pin(cross fingers, and knock on wood), and the rest o chopped up a lot and threw in a big rubbermaid container with some pasterized straw. I will have pictures once there is more to be seen.

I was told not to wait more than a week once the jars are PC'ed. You don't want the substrate drying out too much but I'd guess as long as no signs of contamination is present, go for it. Best of luck!

pretty hard for the substrate to dry out when you have the jars sealed tightly.

>how long did you leave them in the bleach solution ? for about 24 hours.
>what formula did you use, plain bleach or bleach+vinegar ? bleach and vinegar
>how long did it take to see new growth ? I started to see little batches of fuzzy mycelium poke up on the surface again, about a week later.
>any contams return ? yeah, the one i cut in half, i missed a little of the uncolonized substrate so i was getting a little green. so i cut that off and strayed with a H2O2 solution, this one im still waiting for it to come back completely, it hasnt become really fluffy again yet, i dont think it helped that i droped the container it is in and got water on the outside, oh well, that one is sort of an extra if i get anything from it anyway, and my first cake has gotten its first pins just the other day, about 5 noticable ones, and it looks like maybe 10-15 more that may poke up in the next couple days. WOOOHOOO! I just cant wait until i get my casing going, i got a big ass rubermaid container with straw in it colonizing as I type this.
