Compost Q

Can I use any type of compost? I have a lage compost bin in my back yard. Can I use this or do I need to buy commercial compost?
also, why wheat straw? plain straw work?

Although i've not used compost some very knowledgeable bro's tell me that it works fine if ya dig into the core of the pile i believe that its ready to go then ,wheat straw seems to be the favored one but most any straw will work for bulk type projects also a bro was telling me about using alfalfa hay but he seemed to get more contams with it but he said it colonised quite fast.
