hypothetically of course, after someone was to pick the first flush of mushies, dunked them immediatly after picking, do they need 3 days of no air echange like the first flush? any other special things needed to have a good 2nd flush?

what happens if you use casing, you can't dunk it like the cakes, what do you do after the first flush? Sorry captaintrps I can't help you with your question.

You can still dunk casings although depending on your pinning strategy it could be counter productive, it's still one of those "up in the air" things as far as I can tell.
As to your specific question, I've heard that allowing the tray to rest for a day after picking the flush before dunking gives better results. If you have more than one casing, I'd try it both ways to see for your self.

3 days of no FAE on first flush? I am on my first flush for the first time. I am supposed to leave it alone? Captaintrps, I hope you don't mind my asking this on your thread.

After picking a flush, allow the substrate to 'rest' for several days to a week. Let it dry out somewhat during this time. A substrate will not flush again right away. After the 'rest period', give it an overnight soak to bring the moisture content back up and place into fruiting conditions. Dunking right away is counterproductive because the mycelium is dormant for a few days and the dunk only supplies moisture to the contaminant molds that might be present, then it dries out before that moisture is actually needed for the next flush. Never leave a substrate that is flushing without air exchange. It will suffocate and die. RR

i never do this. i pick, then dunk, and i usually get pins 4 to 5 days later.

I dunked and fruited one immediately after harvesting and I also let one rest for two days at ambient relative humidity before dunking it for the same period of time and placed it in the fruiting chamber. The one that rested pinned after two days in the FC whereas the dunked and rushed tray needed seven days before I could muster pins.
Of course, when talking about only two trays, the sample size isn't exactly ideal.
