contamination with vermiculite

Has anyone had problems with contamination on pure vermiculite for casings?

Yes it can and does happen seems to occur from overly humid conditions and or improper air exchanges .

vermiculite cannot be contaminated since it has no nutrients... at least thats what I'm told.

Yes it can, it has happen to me , I got the green shit, when I tossed my casing the whole bottom was covered with the green shit.
I did not do enough air exchange and it was to humid I was very busy with work
and did not pay close attention to my project

Sorry for replying without having experience, but searching
on the web i found at university of iowa that vermiculite cant be
contaminated.

Which makes sense... it is devoid of nutrients.... contams COULD feed off of the water held in the vermiculite.. however their point of origin was most likely NOT the vermiculite... unless of course it had some spores on it maybe...
