It's too bad you uninstalled it, if there's a problem sending the results back to the server (which there is from time to time) it will continue retrying and you will eventually get credit.

Why? It has virtually zero impact on your machine. It runs in the background and instantly stops when you so much as touch your mouse. Meanwhile, the benefit it brings mankind is enormous. Maybe even the cure for cancer some day.

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Edit: Ok, it was just another pointless post.
I worked it out myself.

So I've been having periodic problems with my Folding@home client, getting output like this in the log file:

Quote:

[07:24:09] + Attempting to send results
[07:24:40] Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)
[07:24:40] + Could not connect to Work Server (results)
[07:24:40] (171.64.122.83:8080)
[07:24:40] - Error: Could not transmit unit 01 (completed January 24) to work server.

The solution is to ensure that Folding@home's "Use IE Settings" option is set to no. Your client.cfg file should contain the line 'usereg=no'. Hopefully someone will find this useful.

will folding@home run in the background on linux
If so I'll start it at boot time and have an excuse for never turning my computer off
a virtual terminal is a tareable thing to waste

Absolutely, just run ./FAH504-Linux.exe & and fold away. In fact, like most applications it will probably run best on Linux.

You have to wait for the entire WU to finish, before you get credit.

Hi, I'm completely new to both folding@home and the shroomery. It was a nice coincidence that on the day I installed folding a friend recommended joining this forum (I don't know the name he uses on here). My folding name is Gecko and I hope to be rising my way through your team ranks shortly

What exactly is this art project? It won't load anything for me but I can move the bar back and forth across the half-pipe looking indicator bar.

The 360 does not have Folding.
(Almost positive)
I wish my internet didn't cut out a lot so I would be able to Fold better.
