Did you use a pot or a pressure cooker for sterilization? I lost alot of jars using the PF pot method. If you don't have a pressure cooker then you should consider investing in one. It will cut your contams loss to little or none.

I used the pot this time. I don't have a pressure cooker and I thought an hour of boiling the fuckers would do ok but I guess not. Peices of shit!

I'm growing for my first time, and I sterilized 23 jars with 4 different pots in the community kitchen of my dorm building at about 2 a.m. using the MMGG method. I was pretty sterile, but not excessively, and I didn't get a single contaminated jar. I guess I was just lucky, but you can draw your own conclusions. I suspect that the pot method works fine. Boiling anything for an hour will kill everything in there, I would check out other possible sources of contamination before buying an expensive pressure cooker. Happy growing.

Not to be a dick, But the pot method works some times and other times it don't. I lost 53 jars awhile ago using the pot method. The spore where from three different vendors cooked in 2 batches all the same contam. I know presure cookers can be exspensive but you have it for life. If you have to trade a friend some shrooms for his moms pressure cooker? It works for me! If all else fails, I have a 6 quart I will give to anyone that wants it. You can only do 8 jars at a time with it but hey. Also ShroomGod posted a link to a place that sells cookers cheap. That is where I got my 22 quart. Run a search on pressure cookers. It is a very worthwhile investment.

Pressure cookers can be found at flea markets for $20 or so.

I picked up an 8 quart cooker/canner in less than 2 hours searching, $20 well spent!

Your spores could have been contaminated.

Did you put the lid over the pot? So no steam can escape? I haven't had any contamination. And i use the pot method. I tape the pot lid to the pot so it stays down nicely.

The pot method worked fine for me... I only boiled for 45 minutes, too. I was actually surprised I don't have any comtaminates yet... I wasn't all TOO sterile, but it seems what I did, did the trick.
If you want to try out pressure cookers, try looking on ebay. A few weeks ago, I did a search, and found an auction with 20 8 quart canners, going for only $20 each. I don't know what you could find right now, but its always worth a look into.
