grinder advice
    #6721171 - 03/28/07 04:53 PM (16 years, 11 months ago)

So my grinder has kif in all these little crevices and I was wondering a good way to get it out without alot of loss. It has a catcher, but there's a decent amount around the edges.

I tried banging it upside down on a paper, but it doesn't really work.

I usually just use a small pearing knife to scrape the keef out.

Stick it in the freezer for 20 minutes or so, then use a (preferably unused) dry toothbrush and brush it out over a piece of paper.

Guitar picks are nice. They are flexible and the kif doesn't stick to it to badly.

Dissolve the grinder in hydrochloric acid and then inject the resulting goo, that way you'll get everything.

Use some sort of volitile, non-polar solvent. The most available is isopropanol. I have the luxury of having access to pure ether and dichloromethane. Both are exceptional because of their low boiling points.

Putting it in the freezer allows the trichromes become brittle and less sticky. This is why you use ice water when making bubble hash.

I used a pocket knife (Bartlett) to carefully scrape the keef from the crevices onto a piece of paper I could see it on, then just shuffled that on top of a nicely shredded bowl of whatever the flavor of the week is
