i made a new fc and basically the set up is as follows.
17 Gallon Rubbermaid my estimated dimensions are 14x26x16 12" Flourescent light its a lower wattage and can run on batteries 8 2" diamter holes filled with polyfil
I put 2" of moist perlite in the bottom and added water in a corner until there was about 1.5" of water.
Its 2 days later there is very little condensation and my cakes are turning blue..
My possible explanations:
1. I have my fc sitting next to my 85 degree incubator and it heats my fc to about 75 degrees.
2. I am using to big of a light or its on to long im doing a 12/12 schedule.
3. Maybe the 8 holes are letting to much fresh air.. but I thought polyfil keeps in moistures so I dunno..
Anyway basically after 2 days my cake is sitting directly on the perlite and slowing turning blue on top.

you need to drain the water out of your perlite... you only want the perlite to be damp.
condensation doesn't have anything to do with humidity.
1. sounds fine.
2. sounds fine.
3. probably is fine.
I suggest that you get a good hygrometer to read the humidity level inside your fruiting chamber.
Do not have your cakes sitting dirrectly onto the perlite... either sit them on jar lids or put something else under the cakes.
Did you dunk your cakes before putting them into the fruiting chamber?

there is no such thing as to much fresh air, the more air u can get moving through ur FC the better. remove the standing water as roadkill said and u should see vast improvment. also check this thread out http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=2&Number=6636099&fpart=&PHPSESSID=

as much fresh air exhange as possible without hurting your humidity level.

man I read the perlite tek and it said the way perlite worked was.. You get it damp you put 2inches in your tub then you add water. It said the exposed surface area will "wick the water into the air..."
So your saying if its just damp with absolutely no standing water in it it will keep it 90%+?
