Need Expert Help!!

I am planning on Pint jars of Birdseed, I dont really have the time to get any filter disks. I was wondering if anyone used that tek where you punch a big hole in the top of the lid and stuff it with polyester filter fiber or cotton balls??? I was thinking of doing that and also adding a small innoc. hole... any suggestions/problems with that??? thanks in advance......

In a blinding flash of insight, I found myself captive to the following vision:

Using pint jars with birdseed (mostly millet) with just 4 holes in the lid, and foil over the lid, cook for 75-90 min at 121C), contamination problems are nil. The polyfil fiber is great, use it if you have it, but don't sweat it if you don't :-)

Best bet is to try several of each method, see what works best for you.....
